I am interested in development of novel antibiotics/immunotherapeutics/vaccines against multiple microbial and/or parasitic infections in humans.
A human applicable therapeutic/protective strategy against majority of serious nosocomial, community acquired and chronic microbial & parasitic illnesses is still eluding researchers. A feasible and relevant strategy for developing an effective therapeutic vaccine lies in the three important aspects;
a) identification of specific virulence determinants that are involved pathogenesis,
b) appreciating the cellular mechanisms involved and
c) determining and parsing the complex immune responses against pathogens in humans.
During my PhD, I worked on structural vaccinology, infection and immunotherapy fields and in my time at Temple University, Philadelphia, as a postdoc, I worked on HSV-1 immunopathology and was trained in mice colony and health maintenance. Currently, at IIT Roorkee, I am involved in studying the role of small RNAs in regulating the virulence mechanisms in Acinetobacter baumannii.
